Introduction. We are going to run C++ on a very low-cost processor with built-in WiFi, the "ESP8266". We'll use a printed circuit board (PCB) made by LOLIN (formerly WEMOS), called a "D1 Mini". This board can be used as the "brains" for all sorts of electronics projects. We will use it to control a hobby motor from a web browser.

The WeMos D1 Mini is an inexpensive ESP8266-based WiFi board that is low-profile but just as powerful as any NodeMCU or ESP8266-based microcontroller. The D1 Mini is incredibly versatile because it is inexpensive, WiFi-enabled, and fully compatible with the Arduino platform.
